Mommy To Be Massage Pregnancy massage, also called pre-natal massage, is specifically tailored for the expectant mother's needs. The mother to be must be properly positioned and supported during the massage, using pillows and bolsters. Proper positioning ensures comfort and safety for mother and baby. With pregnancy massage some massage techniques, such as deep tissue work, should not be used. There are also certain areas of the body which should be avoided during pregnancy. Pregnancy massage reduces stress, decreases swelling in the arms and legs, and relieves aches and pains in muscles and joints. It's a popular complementary therapy during pregnancy for back pain, when choices for pain relief, such as medication, are often limited. Not only can massage be physically beneficial, but the human touch can be comforting and provide emotional support during pregnancy. Pregnancy massage is contraindicated (should not be performend) during the first term. Our therapists have the saftey of your baby as their first priority and will not preform massage on women who are in their first term. Thank you for your understanding. |
